Apple is set to unveil its latest generation of iPhones at an event called “Far Out” that is scheduled for September 7. The rumour mill has been up and running for a while about new features that will be included in the iPhone 14 and 14 Pro. Some of these speculated features have been reported repeatedly while some “wildcard features” have also been noted.
According to a report by MacRumors, Apple might include some of these “wildcard features” in the upcoming iPhone 14 series which are listed below. Whether the company includes these features in the smartphones or not, will be revealed in the upcoming event. Apart from the iPhone 14 series, Apple will also unveil the new Apple Watch Series 8, an updated Apple Watch SE, and most likely a new Apple Watch “Pro.”
Satellite internet connectivity in iPhone 14
As per a report by Bloomberg, Apple is developing satellite connectivity that will allow iPhone users to send texts to report emergencies in areas where there is no cellular coverage. Earlier, rumours suggested that this advanced capability would arrive with iPhone 13, but that was not the case.
However, the report claims that the Cupertino-based tech giant is planning to announce satellite connectivity capabilities for the iPhone 14 during its launch event. The report also notes that Apple is likely to partner with Globalstar for the feature for the upcoming iPhone series.
Vapour chamber thermal management in iPhone 14 Pro
The report adds that Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo while covering Apple’s early development of the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros, `claimed that high-end iPhones in 2022 might come equipped with a vapour chamber thermal system for heat management. At that time, Kuo also noted that Apple was “aggressively testing” the technology for iPhones.
Some premium Android phones from — Samsung and other companies already comes with vapour chamber thermal management which helps these devices to stay cool under heavy workloads.
The report states that Apple has continued to improve the performance of Phone by making more powerful each year with the new generation of its A-series chip. The pro variants of the upcming iPhone 14 series is likely to come powered by the new A16 Bionic chip, while the base models will retain the A15 Bionic chip from the current iPhone 13 series.
Increased internal storage in the Pro variants
Apple started offering 1TB of internal storage with the iPhone 13 Pro. The report suggest that the company is rumoured to offer an even larger 2TB storage option to iPhone 14 pro customers, which will also be the highest ever for any iPhone. As per the report, the extra storage can help users who take high-quality professional videos on their iPhone.
Wi-Fi 6E connectivity in iPhone 14
The report notes that all the latest Apple devices support Wi-Fi 6 while Wi-Fi 6E is the newest WiFi standard. The latest Wi-Fi standard offers faster speeds and better capabilities to tackle high-capacity workloads. iPhone 13 was speculated to bring in Wi-Fi 6E, however, now it may happen with the upcoming iPhone 14 lineup.
