Apple is expected to announce next-generation iPhones at its upcoming event on September 7. Apple will not announce the next-generation iPhone SE aka 4th-generation iPhone SE, new details about the smartphone have been revealed via a new podcast.
Apple Trackr has reported that In his latest Geared Up podcast, Jon Prosser along with Andru Edwards and Jon Rettinger has highlighted some key details about the upcoming iPhone SE. Prosser has claimed that the iPhone SE 4th-generation will be based on iPhone XR similar to the iPhone SE 2nd-generation and iPhone SE 3rd-generation being based on iPhone 8 form factor. He clearly referred iPhone SE 4 as “just an iPhone XR”.
What’s expected to change
This means, the iPhone SE 4 will look like iPhone XR. This also means that Apple will finally ditch the old form factor of the iPhone 8, the thick bezels and the good old Home button will be removed from the upcoming iPhone SE 4.
If the new details are considered to be true, it is also expected that the upcoming iPhone SE 4 will come with Face ID support instead of Touch ID.
The major change, however, will arrive in terms of the display size. We expect that the iPhone SE 4 will feature a bigger 6.1-inch display than the iPhone XR. Also, if iPhone SE 4 will be based on iPhone XR, we also expect it to feature the LCD panel just like the iPhone XR.
In terms of chipset, the iPhone SE has always received the best Apple has to offer. For instance, the ongoing model of iPhone SE is powered by Apple A15 Bionic chipset which also powers the iPhone 15 series. However, as per the rumours going around about the upcoming iPhone 14 remaining on the previous-generation chip, it is unlikely that Apple will offer the latest chip with the rumoured iPhone SE 4.
